Fatemeh AfshariFatemeh Afshari D.M.D., M.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor - Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Afshari is a cum laude graduate, of Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She went on to complete her specialty training in Prosthodontics at UIC. During her 3-year residency, she received training in restoring complex cases involving full mouth rehabilitation of natural teeth and dental implants using evidence based techniques and the latest technology. Dr. Afshari also received her Master's in Oral Sciences while completing her specialty. Her research focuses on clinical outcomes assessment and university-based recall systems. After completing an Astra-Tech Implant Fellowship, Dr. Afshari joined the University of Illinois at Chicago as a clinical assistant professor. She is presently course director of the pre-patient complete denture course and instructs dental students in implant restorative techniques in the UIC Implant and Innovations Center. She is excited to provide her patients with quality and comprehensive dental care while educating them about their oral health.


Satish AlapatiSatish Alapati B.D.S., M.S., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Endodontics

Dr. Alapati's practice is limited to Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy.) He is an American Association of Endodontists Foundation Educator Award recipient. He has an active translational research program on therapeutic applications for regenerative endodontic treatment/root canal therapy utilizing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from dental pulp tissue. Dr. Alapati is the Clinic Director in the Department of Endodontics. He also maintains an active practice limited to Endodontics in the Colleges Allen W. Anderson Faculty Dental Practice.

Seema Ashrafi D.D.S., M.S.
Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Periodontics, Director of Predoctoral Periodontics and Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Dr. Ashrafi is interested in all aspects of Periodontics. Her interest is clinical periodontology, including surgical aspect particularly bone grafting and regeneration procedures. Dr. Ashrafi's educational focus is teaching the importance of diagnosing, and treatment of periodontal diseases.


Stephen Campbell D.D.S., M.M.S.
Professor and Head of the Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Campbell's practice is limited to Prosthodontics and as such he provides comprehensive care at the specialty level (Prosthodontics). He participates in a wide range of state of the science therapy including orofacial esthetics, replacement and restoration of teeth including advanced implant therapies, crowns and bridges, dentures, and the application of the most modern digital technologies. He has 30 years of patient caring experience in Prosthodontics.


Carla EvansCarla A. Evans D.D.S., D.M.Sc.
Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics

Dr. Evans practices the full spectrum of the Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty. Her research interests are related to normal and abnormal facial growth and development, application of computer imaging to orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, orthodontic materials, and evaluation of treatment outcomes.


T. William Evans T. William Evans D.D.S, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. T. William Evans is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who limited his practice to Facial Aesthetic Surgery in 1987. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Ohio State University, and the University of Michigan.


Shahrbanoo (Shar) FadaviShahrbanoo (Shar) Fadavi D.D.S, M.S.
Professor, Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Fadavi is a Board certified Pediatric Dentist with almost 30 years of experience in teaching, research and clinical Pediatric Dentistry. She served as Residency Program Director in Pediatric Dentistry at UIC for 8 years and Associate Director for 6 years. Dr. Fadavi is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. She is a member of the ADA, ISDS, CDS, ISPD, IADR/AADR, ABPD and College of Diplomates. Dr. Fadavi serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Dentistry for Children. She is a member of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Oral Board Examinations Committee and serves as a site visitor to the ADA, Commission on Dental Accreditation .

Dr. Fayz is a Board certified Prosthodontist.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. As a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, he teaches and supervises the postgraduate dental students in the Advanced Prosthodontics Program. Additionally, he is the director of the Central Dental Laboratory.  Dr. Fayz is an active member of the American Prosthodontic Society, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He maintains a part time private practice at the UIC Allen W. Anderson Faculty Dental Practice.


Kimberly Fasula

Kimberly Fasula R.D.H.
Director of Faculty Dental Practice

Kimberly Fasula is the Director of the Allen W. Anderson Faculty Practice. She has more than nine years experience as a clinical faculty member. She is a board examiner for the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners. She brings eighteen years of experience in a productive private practice to her role as Director. Kimberly a clinical instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and is active in teaching both didactic and clinical courses. She is also a practitioner in the Allen W. Anderson Faculty Dental Practice.

Dr. Gehrke holds a faculty appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Restorative Dentistry. He is a member of American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society and Illinois State Dental Society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.  Dr. Gehrke also maintains a part time private practice at the UIC Allen W. Anderson Faculty Dental Practice.


Joseph Gluck D.D.S.

Dr. Gluck maintains a private a private practice and spends his Fridays at the University supervising the graduate periodontics clinic and caring for patients in the Faculty Dental Practice.


Rand Harlow D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Harlow joined the Department of Restorative Dentistry in 1997.  From 2006-2013, he served as the inaugural Director of Predoctoral Implant Education.  In 2010, he received the E Lloyd Du Brul Faculty Achievement Award.  Dr. Harlow is currently Co-Director for the Advanced Prosthodontics Specialty Program.  In this role, he assists in the supervision and management of the Prosthodontic students and curriculum.  He is also a member of the Illinois State Board of Dentistry and the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners.  Dr. Harlow has lectured for many local and national conferences on topic of dental implant education.


Kent L. Knoernschild D.M.D., M.S.
Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and Professor, Deaprtment of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Knoernschild is Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and conducts a private practice limited to prosthodontics. He is a Director for the American Board of Prosthodontics and past recipient of the American College of Prosthodontists Educator of the Year Award. He has served the American Dental Association as Chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Dr. Knoernschild has been President for the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and for the International Association for Dental Research Prosthodontics Group. Dr. Knoernschild has provided over 100 lectures to regional, national and international prosthodontic organizations including study clubs and advanced prosthodontic programs. Using teeth or implants, his lectures have focused on comprehensively and predictably achieving optimum esthetic and functional results.

Dr. Kolokythas's primary interest is benign and malignant pathology of the head and neck.


Alyson Koslow Alyson Koslow D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Koslow has been focusing on high quality restorative and esthetic dentistry at the University's Faculty Dental Practice for 15 years. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry supervising student driven patient care and is involved with many preclinical and didactic courses.  Dr. Koslow is on the UIC Professionalism, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. She is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. In her multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Koslow offers various treatment options to fit one's individual needs including all implant restorations, crowns, bridges, veneers, bonding, removable prostheses, full mouth rehabilitation, tooth whitening, occlusal guards, sleep apnea devices and Invisalign.  She has made several appearances in the media including, ABC, NBC, CBS, WGN/Fox news as well as The Chicago Tribune

Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry 

Dr. Marinis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He teaches postdoctoral and predoctoral students in clinical settings and develops research in the areas of implant dentistry, restorative materials and education. Dr. Marinis believes that interdisciplinary care and an individualized approach is essential for achieving high quality dental treatment. Dr. Aristotelis Marinis' practice is focused on implant rehabilitation, esthetic dentistry and restoration of worn dentition


 Anna Manzotti, D.D.S., M.Dent.Sc.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Manzotti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontic Department at the UIC College of Dentistry. She is a board certified Prosthodontist and a member of the American College of Prosthodontists. She completed her dental training and master's degree in Prosthodontics and Advanced Technologies in Italy. Furthermore, she completed a Certificate Program in Prosthodontics and master's degree in dental sciences from the University of Connecticut Health Center. Her research focuses on facial esthetics and biomaterials. Her clinical interests include comprehensive treatment with dental implants and Prosthodontics.


Mary Beth MiloroM. Beth Miloro, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Oral Medicine

Dr. Beth Miloro is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Following graduation, she attended a fellowship in Oral Pathology at the Ohio State University. Since that time she has divided her time between private practice and clinical teaching in Oral Medicine. Her clinical interests are general dentistry and oral mucosal diseases.

Dr. Michael Miloro is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has clinical interests in dental implants, bone grafting, third molar surgery, and orthographic surgery.

Dr. Parsons started a two year certificate program for foreign dental graduates called the International Dentist Program in 1994. He continues as the Director of the International Dentist Degree Program. Dr. Parsons has been teaching General Dentistry in the college since 1983. Additionally, Dr. Parsons maintains a part time general practice in the Faculty Dental Practice at the College of Dentistry.

Dr. Rodriguez received her dental degree in Caracas, Venezuela. She completed the Restorative Dentistry Master's program at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She achieved further training in different areas of dentistry including restorative procedures and materials, managing comprehensive patient care, research guidelines and evidence based dentistry. Her research was in dental composite materials. She is currently teaching in the pre-patient clinics in the areas of operative dentistry, fixed prosthodontics and complete dentures at the UIC College of Dentistry.

Cortino Sukotjo, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Sukotjo received his DDS Degree from the, University of Padjadjaran, Indonesia. He then received his PhD degree in Oral Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Sukotjo completed an Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and a Master's degree at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sukotjo's research interests include dental educational research, wound healing, bioengineering, and molecular analysis of implant osseointegration.


George Syros, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Syros is a Board Certified Prosthodontist. He is currently teaching predoctoraland postdoctoral students in clinical settings. His research focus includes implant dentistry and related material science and clinical outcomes of implant-supported prostheses of the Head and Neck oncologic patients. He holds a faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Implant Dentistry.


Rodney J. Vergotine B.Ch.D., M.Sc.
  Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics and Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency program. 

Dr. Vergotine completed his dental training in Cape Town, South Africa at the University of the Western Cape in 1986.  He worked on his Pediatric Dental Residency from 1991 - 1993 at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.  He completed his Pediatric Dentistry Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) 1994, 1995 and has been Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry since 1999. His areas of interest include pharmacological behavior management, hospital dentistry, clinical pediatric dentistry and community outreach projects.


Keiko WatanabeKeiko Watanabe, D.D.S.
Associate Professor , Department of Periodontics

Dr. Watanabe is a board certified Periodontist and Director of Postgraduate Research in Periodontics in the Department of Periodontics. Dr. Watanabe clinical and research interests have focused on inflammatory periodontal diseases and their impact on systemic diseases. She has been teaching and practicing periodontics for over 25 years.


Steve Weeks, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Endodontics

Dr. Weeks specializes in non-surgical and surgical management of diseases of the dental pulp, more commonly referred to as "root canal therapy". He has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at UIC since 1994: part-time until mid-1997 and full-time since then.


Judy Chia-Chun Yuan, D.D.S., M.S.
Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry and Director of Predoctoral Implant Education

Dr. Yuan received her DDS degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Yuan subsequently completed an Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and a Master's degree in Oral Sciences at the SUNY Buffalo. Following her graduation she participated as an International Team for Implantology Scholar in Bern, Switzerland, under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Buser. Dr. Yuan provides treatments in fixed and removable prosthodontics, including implant restorations. She supervises predoctoral students in the Implant and Innovations Center.  Her research interests include dental educational research, and implant dentistry and related areas.
