Kimberly Fasula RDH
Director of Faculty Dental Practice
Kimberly Fasula is the Director of the Allen W. Anderson Faculty Practice, and is also a registered dental hygienist. She has more than seven years of experience as a clinical faculty member, and six of those years were as the Faculty Coordinator for the hygiene program. Kim brings eighteen years of experience in a productive private practice to her role as Director. She is also a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry.
Fatemeh Afshari D.M.D., M.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Afshari is a graduate, cum laude, of Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She went on to complete her specialty training in prosthodontics at UIC. During her 3-year residency, she received training in restoring complex cases involving full mouth rehabilitation of natural teeth and dental implants using evidence based techniques and the latest technology. Dr. Afshari also received her Master's in Oral Sciences while completing her specialty. Her research focuses on clinical outcomes assessment and university-based recall systems. After completing an Astra-Tech Implant Fellowship, Dr. Afshari joined the University of Illinois at Chicago as a clinical assistant professor. She is presently course director of the pre-patient complete denture course and instructs dental students in implant restorative techniques in the UIC Implant and Innovations Center. She is excited to provide her patients with quality and comprehensive dental care while educating them about their oral health.
Satish Alapati B.D.S., M.S., PhD
Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Alapati's practice is limited Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy), has special interest and active research projects in areas of "Regenerative Endodontics, and Biomechanical preparation of root canal system".
Seema Ashrafi D.D.S., M.S.
Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Predonctoral Penodontics
Dr. Ashrafi is interested in all aspects of Periodontics. Her interest is clinical periodontology, including surgical aspect particularly bone grafting and regeneration procedures. Dr. Ashrafi's educational focus is teaching the importance of diagnosing, and treatment of periodontal diseases.
Stephen Campbell D.D.S., M.M.S.
Professor and Head of the Department of Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Campbell's practice is limited to Prosthodontics and as such he provides comprehensive care at the specialty level (Prosthodontics). He participates in a wide range of state of the science therapy including orofacial esthetics, replacement and restoration of teeth including advanced implant therapies, crowns and bridges, dentures, and the application of the most modern digital technologies. He has 30 years of patient caring experience in Prosthodontics.
Carla A. Evans D.D.S., DMSc
Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics
Dr. Evans practices the full spectrum of the Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty. Her research interests are related to normal and abnormal facial growth and development, application of computer imaging to orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, orthodontic materials, and evaluation of treatment outcomes.
Shar Fadavi D.D.S., M.S.
Professor of Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Fadavi is a Board certified Pediatric Dentist with almost 30 years of experience in teaching, research and clinical pediatric Dentistry. She has served as Residency Program Director in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago for 8 years and Associate Director of the Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at UIC for 6 years. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists and a member of ADA, ISDS,CDS, ISPD, IADR/AADR, ABPD and the College of Diplomates. Dr. Fadavi serves on the editorial Board of the Journal of Dentistry for children. She is also a member of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Oral Board Examinations Committee and serves as a site visitor to the ADA, CODA.
Fayz Farhad D.M.D., M.Sc.D., FACP
Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Farhad Fayz received his DMD degree from the National University of Iran School of Dental Medicine. He has a certificate in Operative Dentistry and a Master of Science Degree in biomaterials from Boston University, Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Fayz completed an Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Center, Rochester, NY. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics a fellow of the American college of Prosthodontists. He is an active member of the American Prosthodontic Society, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Kenneth Gehrke D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Gehrke holds a faculty appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Restorative Dentistry. He is a member of American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society and Illinois State Dental Society and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Joseph Gluck D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Gluck maintains a private a private practice and spends his Fridays at the University, supervising the graduate periodontics clinic and caring for patients in the Faculty Dental Practice.
Rand Harlow D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Harlow is currently the Director of Predoctoral Implant Education. In this role, he is the course director for the preclinical didactic course in dental implants, as well as coordinator for the Predoctoral Implant Clinic where dental students provide implant therapy for single tooth and overdenture patients. He has also lectured to local and national organizations on dental implant education. He has maintained a referral based private practice at UIC in the Faculty Dental Practice for the past fifteen years.
Kent L. Knoernschild D.M.D., M.S.
Director Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and Professor of Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Knoernschild is Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and conducts a private practice limited to prosthodontics. He is a Director for the American Board of Prosthodontics and past recipient of the American College of Prosthodontists Educator of the Year Award. He has served the American Dental Association as Chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Dr. Knoernschild has been President for the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics and for the International Association for Dental Research Prosthodontics Group. Dr. Knoernschild has provided over 100 lectures to regional, national and international prosthodontic organizations including study clubs and advanced prosthodontic programs. Using teeth or implants, his lectures have focused on comprehensively and predictably achieving optimum esthetic and functional results.
Alyson Koslow D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Koslow is in private practice at the University's Faculty Dental Practice as well as being a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. She's a clinical attending, supervising student driven patient care in the DaVinci Clinic and involved with many preclinical and didactic courses. She is Director of the Restorative II Clinical Decision Making course, Co-Director of the Removable Partial Denture course and teaches preclinical implants and occlusion. She also participates in teaching Continuing Education. Dr. Koslow has also been on the UIC Professionalism, Ethics and Disciplinary Committees.
Aristotelis Marinis D.D.S., M.S., FACP
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Marinis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He teaches postdoctoral and predoctoral students in clinical settings and develops research in the areas of implant dentistry, restorative materials and education. Dr. Marinis believes that interdisciplinary care and an individualized approach is essential for achieving high quality dental treatment. Dr. Aristotelis Marinis' practice is focused on implant rehabilitation, esthetic dentistry and restoration of worn dentition.
M. Beth Miloro, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Beth Miloro is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Following graduation, she attended a fellowship in Oral Pathology at the Ohio State University. Since that time she has divided her time between private practice and clinical teaching in Oral Medicine. Her clinical interests are general dentistry and oral mucosal diseases
Michael Miloro, M.D., D.M.D.
Professor and Head Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Michael Miloro is a board-certified Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has clinical interests in dental implants, bone grafting, third molar surgery, and orthographic surgery.
Terry Parsons, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Parsons started a two year certificate program for foreign dental graduates called the International Dentist Program in 1994. He continues as the Director of the International Dentist Degree Program. Dr. Parsons has been teaching General Dentistry in the college since 1983. Additionally, Dr. Parsons maintains a part time general practice in the Faculty Dental Practice at the College of Dentistry.
Cortino Sukotio, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Sukotjo received his DDS Degree from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Padjadjaran, Indonesia. He then received his PhD degree in Oral Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Sukotjo completed an Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics and a Master's degree at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sukotjo's research interests include dental educational research, wound healing, bioengineering, and molecular analysis of implant osseointegration.
George Syros, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Syros is a Board Certified Prosthodontist. He is currently teaching postdoctoral and predoctoral students in clinical settings. His research focus includes implant dentistry and related material science and clinical outcomes of implant-supported prostheses of the Head and Neck oncologic patients. He holds a faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Implant Dentistry.
Keiko Watanabe, D.D.S.
Associate Professor
Dr. Watanabe is a Board Certified Periodontist and Director of Post Graduate Research in Periodontics in the Department of Periodontics. Additionally, she practices periodontics in the Faculty Practice at UIC. Dr. Watanabe clinical and research interests have focused on inflammatory periodontal diseases and their impact on systemic diseases. She has been teaching and practicing periodontics for over 25 years.
Steve Weeks, D.D.S.
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Weeks specializes in non-surgical and surgical management of diseases of the dental pulp, more commonly referred to as "root canal therapy". He has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at UIC since 1994: part-time until mid-1997 and full-time since then. Three half-days each week are devoted to private practice, limited to endodontics, in the Faculty Dental Practice of the College of Dentistry.
Judy Chia-Chun Yuan, D.D.S.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Yuan provides treatments in fixed and removable prosthodontics, including implant restorations. She supervises predoctoral students in the Implant and Innovations Center. Dr. Yuan's research interests include dental educational research, and implant dentistry and related areas.
