On Saturday, April 14th, the Diabetes Team at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System participated in the 9th annual American Diabetes Association (ADA) EXPO at McCormick Place. Nurses, physicians and diabetes educators from the adult and newly formed Pediatrics Diabetes Team provided health tips, education and general awareness for our programs at the UI Diabetes booth. Those who stopped by our booth received pedometers and highlighters to help record their high/low scores in diabetes log books.
The ADA and Diabetes Team at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System are both committed to the prevention of this devastating disease and seek to improve the levels of all people affected by diabetes. The 8,300 attendees were able to take advantage of free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, and information on new products, and attendees were able to participate in high-impact Zumba workouts. In addition, the free EXPO featured Paula Deane's sons, Booby and Jamie, who were available for meet-and-greets.
