Celebrating the Opening of Mile Square Health Center in Englewood

The Mile Square Health Center (MSHC) in Englewood celebrated its new management under the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System. It joins 11 other FQHCs under the UI Health System family of community clinics. MSHC provides holistic health care to urban communities with a continued commitment in serving the underserved and contributing to the elimination of health care disparities.
Several leaders joined in the celebration, including: Joe G.N. “Skip” Garcia, M.D., Vice President for Health Affairs, Henry Taylor, MSHC Executive Director, Board Members, staff, Congressman Danny Davis, Senator Mattie Hunger, Barbara Holt, Chief of Staff to Ald. Cochran, Ald.Foulkes, Rev. Randall Harris, Rev. Elder Lynette Brady and other community participants including a 100 year old patient. Community leaders welcomed the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System into the neighborhood and applauded Dr. Garcia and Henry Taylor for making a commitment to serve the underserved in Englewood. The partnership provides additional services, care, research, and experience and health wellness to the community.
Mile Square has deep roots in Chicago neighborhoods. Founded in 1968, Mile Square is one of the oldest community health centers in Chicago and brings over 43 years of serving communities throughout Chicago. As an FQHC, Mile Square is dedicated to providing primary care through individualized care coordination. We look forward to seeing the ongoing transformation of this clinic, and its success in helping to make our community healthier.
