Which Clinic is Right for Me?

The Dental Clinics of the College of Dentistry offer a complete range of dental and oral health services. Care is available in a variety of settings for patients with both simple and complex needs.

Predoctoral Clinics (General Student Teaching Clinics)

Our student teaching clinics provide most services at the College. These teaching clinics are primarily scheduled for patients who have dental treatment needs that correspond to the teaching needs of our students. Care is provided by individuals learning to become dentists, under careful supervision of dental faculty.

While the predoctoral clinics at the College of Dentistry allow patients to receive comprehensive dental care at a significantly reduced cost, patients should expect appointment times to be significantly longer compared to a private practice setting, because of the close supervision provided by faculty members at every stage of the treatment process.

Patients will be screened and determined if their needs and expectations are a suitable fit for the predoctoral clinics. Once accepted, a patient will be assigned to a dental student to begin treatment. Patients must be committed to comprehensive care; including being available for care based on their treatment needs as determined by faculty.

Payment is expected at the time of service in all College clinics. The predoctoral clinics do not accept dental insurance but will happily print a reimbursement claim for you.

Graduate Clinics (Specialty/Advanced Clinics)

The specialty clinics provide care for patients with complex or specialized treatment needs. The students in the specialty clinics are already licensed dentists who are furthering their studies in a particular specialty, including: Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.

The graduate clinics are primarily scheduled for patients who have dental treatment needs that correspond to the teaching needs of our postgraduate/resident students.

As with the general clinics, patients may expect appointment times to be somewhat longer than in a private practice setting, but fees are less. Some graduate clinics accept some insurance plans. Please contact the specific clinic for further information.

Faculty Dental Practice

The Allen W. Anderson Faculty Practice is similar to a private practice. General dentists and dental specialists from our own College faculty provide an extensive range of state-of-the-art services for individuals of all ages. You may expect the length of your appointments to be comparable to an outside private practice. Also, fees for services are comparable to outside private practices of the area, and selective insurance is accepted and billed.
