At UI Health Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, advancements are being made in the diagnosis, management, and study of endocrine and metabolic disorders. The latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques are used in the clinical evaluation and management of diabetes and other metabolic disorders.

Our Services

Our endocrinology clinic provides care to patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders that include hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer pituitary tumors, adrenal insufficiency, osteoporosis, hyperaldosteronism and forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

State-of-the-art care is provided to patients with various stages and complications of diabetes including diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2, insulin pump therapy, post-renal transplantation care, obesity, neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy and diabetes-associated congenital syndromes.

Our facility features a Diabetes Wellness Education Program (click here for a list of current classes). Our education program is a certified Center of Excellence for diabetes education by the American Diabetes Association. As part of this education program, our clinic provides a survey of the latest treatmetn technology and techniques, helps track personal data, provides information on diabetes medical devices, and offers classes ranging from "Understanding Insulin" to "Counting Carbohydrates" taught in both English and Spanish.

Our Team

Our specialists are involved in leading research efforts into understanding the causes and consequences of the lipid disorders that accompany diabetes and obesity, the causes and treatment of metabolic complications of polycystic ovarian syndrome, regulation of glucose metabolism in the liver, the metabolic effects of growth hormone and the prevention of osteoporosis. Diabetes patients benefit from a nursing staff committed to maintaining appropriate glucose levels throughout a patients hospital stay.
