Non-Surgical Weight Loss Programs

Our Services

Conservative, Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program:

For those patients interested in non-surgical weight loss, the Registered Dietitian (RD) is the initial practitioner whom the patient will encounter.  RDs are professionals with advanced degrees in human nutrition. During your first visit with a RD, a diet and exercise assessment will be performed. This assessment includes questions regarding:

  • what is typically consumed and how often
  • factors that that may influence your eating such as stress, work, sleeping pattern, appetite, etc.
  • amount of time you spend doing brisk physical activity
  • what are your long term goals
  • what do you expect to achieve by participating in lifestyle modification

In preparation for your initial dietitian visit, it is recommended and appreciated if you keep a brief food and exercise diary for 3-4 days. It is best to have at least one weekend day recorded as well as one week day.  Click here for the Food Log and Exercise Log.

Initial visits are scheduled for 20 minutes.  At subsequent visits, progress will be assessed, obstacles to achieving goals will be discussed, and further modifications will be made as you progress in your journey.

As part of our program, the dietitians work very closely with a Nutrition Specialist Physician.  After the initial assessment, it is determined if additional medical follow up is needed.  Reasons to refer to the doctor specializing in weight loss:

  • possible medical cause of weight gain or inability to lose weight
  • recommendations on treatment of co-morbidites (diseases related to weight such as Diabetes, Hypertension, etc..)
  • evaluations for anti-obesity medications
  • evaluations for Bariatric surgery

Note that all of these (except those referred directly for bariatric surgery) require assessment by the dietitian before proceeding to an MD appointment.  All programs are followed by our Physician Nutrition Specialist (MD).

            Nutrition and Wellness Boot Camp:

This twice weekly class offers a structured diet, as well as group physical activity.  The first class of the week consists of 45 minutes of nutrition education taught by a Registered Dietitian, followed by 45 minutes of group training by a Certified Personal Trainer. The second class is a 45 minute group training session only.  It is based on a positive reinforcement approach to improving fitness and managing weight without structured dieting.  The participant will learn about all aspects of nutrition from weight loss to improving overall health through nutrition.  At each class, 45 minutes is spent in group exercise learning easy and effective exercises that can then be done at home.  All programs are followed by our Physician Nutrition Specialist (MD).

           EZ Weight Loss:

It allows the patient to guide what is discussed at visits and make a more personalized plan for weight loss and health with the RD. All programs are followed by our Physician Nutrition Specialist (MD).
