International Medicine Program

A Guided, Step-by-Step Journey to Making Informed Decisions About Your Health Care

Whether you seek specialized medical treatment on site in Chicago, or a second opinion from some of the best minds in medicine, UI Health is fully prepared and specifically staffed to meet your needs.

Though we've been providing a range of medical services to international patients at our university hospital facilities here in Chicago, we are currently expanding and deepening our program to serve patients in Latin America. Dr Juan Litvan, our International Medicine Program Director, is an Internist and Hospitalist, born and raised in Uruguay and educated in Boston and Chicago. His multi-cultural and medical insights inform every aspect of our program and are fully embraced by every medical professional involved. Whether we are providing a second opinion or are treating you in person, be assured that we will:

  • Identify those specialists whose expertise is indicated for your medical condition
  • Provide real-time diagnostic opinion/second opinion based on your current, accurate and verified clinical data
  • Direct, when needed, additional testing or procedures to better determine appropriate treatment
  • Share findings, discuss options, suggest alternatives with your local physician, you, and your family
What Next?

That question is answered all throughout your experience. If you come to Chicago for diagnosis and/or treatment, you have a personal navigator, familiar with every aspect of your requirements to provide any services or assistance you and your family may need. In our International Medicine Program, personalized care takes on a whole new meaning. Even the most sophisticated travelers appreciate knowing we're here to guide them every step of the way. We understand the purpose of this travel is to obtain answers to serious questions, to weigh information and make decisions. We are committed to minimizing uncertainty and stress, so you can focus on what's most important-your health.
