March of Dimes
New Partnership Seeks to Reduce Premature Births in Chicago
The mission of March of Dimes is to prevent premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality. Premature birth is the leading cause of death for babies in the United States. With one in every 10 babies born too soon, March of Dimes funds research, advocacy, and community grants to help find the causes and preventions for prematurity.
Since 2015, UI Health and March of Dimes have partnered together to address the concerns of our most vulnerable patients, improve the health of our community, and promote health equity. This partnership allows UI Health to be the first hospital in Illinois to participate in the "Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait" program, which combines awareness, education, quality improvement, and community intervention to help reduce preterm birth.
