NIDCAP Training Center

Nidcap Voice of the newbornWelcome to the home page of the NIDCAP Training Center at the University of Illinois.

The NIDCAP center is part of the Women's and Children's Nursing Services within the Children's Hospital. The center is devoted to improving behavioral and psychosocial outcomes for infants born prematurely by educating both staff and families to provide sensitive, supportive care during a period of immense brain growth and development.

The NIDCAP training center provides training in the NIDCAP methodology, as well as general education in developmentally supportive care for fragile infants. Training is authorized through the auspices of the NIDCAP Federation International

For more information on NIDCAP training, please see the NIDCAP training page.

We also collaborate with our colleagues at the NIDCAP Training Center at Cincinnati's Children's Hospital to sponsor an annual developmental care conference targeting nurses, physicians, therapists, social workers and others who work in a NICU environment.
