Asthma Education Clinic

UI Health offers an Asthma Education Clinic so patients can better understand the underlying causes asthma, their asthma triggers, and asthma self-management with the goal of controlling asthma long-term. The clinic is for patients who have already been diagnosed with asthma. Providers who feel their patient needs further instruction on asthma self-management will be referred to the clinic.

The clinic will discuss:

  • Asthma Action Plans
  • Trigger avoidance
  • Objective measures: FENO/Spirometry/ACT score
  • Instruction on proper inhaler technique/spacer use
  • Allergen avoidance.

Patients usually visit the clinic 1-2 times. The patient will receive a take home folder with relevant reading materials and continue to manage their asthma with their referring provider.
