UI Health Honors Filipino American History Month: Legacy in Practice
This October, UI Health proudly celebrates Filipino American History Month by honoring the intergenerational contributions of Filipino Americans in health care. From nursing leadership and patient advocacy to innovations in caregiving rooted in cultural values, this event uplifts the stories of Filipino families whose legacies continue to strengthen our healthcare system.
Threads Through Generations: Culture, Care, and Community
Family tradition and cultural heritage are deeply woven into Filipino American contributions to health care. “Legacy in Practice: Filipino Family Stories in Health Care” highlights how identity, resilience, and community care are passed down through generations—and how these values enrich both professional practice and patient experiences.
Attendees will:
- Gain insight into the cultural values that shape Filipino approaches to health and caregiving.
- Learn how family legacies influence career pathways and resilience in health care.
- Explore strategies to provide more culturally attuned, compassionate care for Filipino and Filipino American patients.
