Poster Latin-American Health Week

The Latin American Health Weeks (LAHW) is a bi-national mobilization effort in the Americas. In Chicago, thirteen Latin America Consulates - in collaboration with government agencies, universities, hospitals, community-based organizations, and volunteers - manage a series of health events during Latin American Health Weeks to improve the health and well-being of Latinos living in Illinois. LAHW provides health promotions and health-education activities, including workshops, conferences, and health resources. One of the highlights of LAHW includes the annual community health fair, providing the following free services:

  • Dental screenings
  • Cholesterol and glucose tests
  • Body mass index screenings
  • Blood pressure and vision testing
  • HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease screenings
  • Hepatitis C and kidney function testing
  • Skin cancer testing
  • Flu vaccines
  • Medical and mammogram referrals
  • Mental health assessments

There also will be information tables on various health topics. For information on LAHW events,  Sept 30 - Oct 21, please contact Gabriela Gutierrez at or, or call 312.738.2383, ext. 1150.
