The Latin American Health Weeks (LAHW) is a bi-national mobilization effort in the Americas. In Chicago, 13 Latin America Consulates manage a series of health events during Latin American Health Weeks in collaboration with government agencies, universities, hospitals, community-based organizations, and volunteers to improve the health and well-being of Latinos living in Illinois. LAHW provides health promotions and health-education activities, including workshops, conferences, and health resources.
Highlights of this year's community health fair include the following screenings: cholesterol, glucose, body mass index, blood pressure, vision, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, kidney function, dental health education, and flu vaccines. In addition, access to medical and mammogram referrals, mental health, assessments, and information tables on various health topics.
