National Prosthodontics Awareness Week
April 21 - 27, 2024
Prosthodontics is the art and science of replacing or restoring missing or damaged teeth. This treatment may be necessary due to cavities, gum disease or medically-related congenital or acquired conditions such as cleft lip and palate, ectodermal dysplasia, head and neck cancer, or craniofacial trauma.
A prosthodontist is a dental specialist with advanced training to provide this care which may include crowns, fixed or removable bridges, complete dentures and dental implants.
This year, National Prosthodontics Awareness Week is April 21 - 27. The American College of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics are leading prosthodontic organizations. They are proud to celebrate their roles in providing these very specialized services to improve the function, appearance, and quality of life of their patients. Here at UI Health, the maxillofacial prosthodontists in The Craniofacial Center (Dr. David Reisberg and Dr. Akanksha Srivastava) provide these services as part of a team approach to comprehensive patient care.
