Dr. Jesica Herrick trained in Internal Medicine at UI Health and completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. While at the NIH, she spent 2.5 years conducting research in the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, focusing on the host immune response to Loa loa infections as well as post-treatment responses to diethylcarbamazine and ivermectin therapy for loiasis. In addition, she worked on the development of new diagnostic tests for Loa loa infection. While at the NIH, she treated numerous patients with helminth infections, echinococcus, and neurocysticercosis. Dr. Herrick's current research interest is on the mechanisms of seizure development in neurocysticercosis.
