get to know our provider
Lisa Mariano is the lead liver transplant clinical coordinator at UI Health and nurse manager of the liver and intestinal transplant programs. A board-certified nurse with an extensive and diverse adult critical care background, Ms. Mariano coordinates all aspects of care for the patient undergoing evaluation for liver transplantation. From referral through workup and, ultimately, transplantation, she works as the nurse liaison between the patient and the transplant team, utilizing her advanced clinical expertise and genuine compassion for her patients. Once a patient is approved for organ listing, she maintains the patient's status on the UNOS liver transplant waitlist. Additionally, Ms. Mariano coordinates the care for all patients undergoing living-donor liver transplantation and serves both as an educator and advocate to the patients and families under her care. Ms. Mariano has advanced leadership skills in the management of acute care settings related to adult critical care, including Level 1 Trauma, cardiovascular-thoracic, and surgical intensive care units.
As part of Donate Life Month, UI Health Transplant Coordinator Lisa Mariano visited WGN's 'Spotlight Chicago' to talk about living organ donation and transplant options.
