CMHC Council Advisory Board Meeting

We are pleased to invite you to become a member of our community advisory board for the research project, Community Maternal Health Care program. We value your current contributions to addressing maternal mortality and would be honored to have your participation.
- We would like to tell you a bit more about the CMHC intervention. The Community Maternal Health Care program (CMHC) to aims to improve maternal mortality rates among Black women in Chicago's southside neighborhoods
- The CMHC program offers a community-based, culturally adapted model of care, providing:
- Holistic Services: Midwifery, nutrition counseling, case management, and doula support
- Prenatal and Postpartum Care: Addressing needs throughout pregnancy and after childbirth
- Referral Services: Connecting patients with dental and behavioral healthcare
- Community Resources: Educational baby showers offering essential supplies and connecting mothers to local resources
This advisory board, which will comprise of 8-10 Black mothers who have given birth in the last three years, is focused on improving maternal-child health outcomes in the Black community. The community advisory board will help inform the sustainability of the Community Maternal Health Care model, provide input on how the project is implemented in the community, and provide insight on how to spread the word about the project and overall issues related to maternal health outcomes on the South Side of Chicago. We are excited to share in your expertise to make strides towards shifting the paradigm on maternity care for Black women to buffer the impact of structural racism in maternal-child care.
The board will meet 2 times in the next 6 months at the Mile Square Auburn Gresham clinic. The meetings will consist of a 1-hour discussion in which you will provide key feedback that will inform our intervention activities.
