Health, Safety Top Priorities as Appointments Resume at UI Health

Tuesday, June 9, 2020

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Terry Vanden Hoek and Chief Quality Officer Dr. Susan Bleasdale explain some of the new safety updates at our facilities.

At UI Health, your health and safety are our top priorities. We understand that you may have concerns about coming in to see your doctor right now, but going to the doctor is an important part of staying healthy, especially if you have a chronic condition like diabetes, asthma, or heart disease.

So, we have made updates to our healthcare spaces to ensure your visits to UI Health are safe, timely, and convenient - so you and your loved ones continue to receive the care you need to stay healthy.

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY

If you need to see your doctor, call us at 866.600.2273 to schedule an appointment, or request an appointment online. And If your care doesn't require an in-person visit, we are offering telehealth visits to allow you to talk with your doctor without having to leave your home.

WAYS WE'RE KEEPING YOU SAFE

You can be assured that we are prepared to deliver the highest quality of care in the safest of conditions. When you visit our facilities, you'll notice some of the changes we've made and the key safety measures we are taking:

Symptom Screening

Temperatures are taken as you enter our facilities. You also will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

Universal Masking

Everyone is required to wear a mask while at UI Health. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you when you enter the building.

Social Distancing

We have incorporated social-distancing practices into all our clinical areas to allow proper space between individuals.

Visitor Limitations

Visitor limitations are in place with exceptions for certain patient groups.

Enhanced Cleaning

We have updated our cleaning protocols to regularly clean public spaces and hard surfaces.

Dedicated COVID Unit

Since the beginning of COVID-19, UI Health has had a dedicated unit to treat COVID-positive patients and keep them and our staff as safe as possible. We are very pleased with the number of patients who have safely returned home, and we will continue to maintain this unit throughout the pandemic.
