Patient Information Regarding Staffing Interruptions
Wednesday, November 13, 2024
The Illinois Nurses Association (INA) announced a strike for an undetermined period beginning at 7 am on Wednesday, Nov. 13, for registered nurses covered under the RN Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Our nurses are critical to UI Health’s commitment to clinical excellence and safe, high-quality patient care. Though we are experiencing a staffing interruption, we want to assure you that the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics is open and ready to care for you.
In order to ensure that the Hospital and our outpatient clinics are staffed to meet the care needs of our patients, we are taking the following steps:
- Your appointment or procedure may be rescheduled; if so, we will contact you. If you are not contacted, your appointment or procedure will continue as scheduled.
- We are limiting transfers from other hospitals at this time.
- We have onboarded licensed and qualified nurses and healthcare professionals from external sources.
UI Health remains committed to its mission of advancing health for everyone, and we have plans in place to ensure the continued care and safety for our patients. More information on the current INA strike also is available at UIHealthWorkforce.uic.edu.
