Meet the Directors
Aslam Ejaz, MD, MPH
Dr. Aslam Ejaz is a surgical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancer, and other gastrointestinal cancers. In addition to his clinical work, he enjoys teaching the future generation of surgeons and other cancer care providers. Dr. Ejaz believes that the ideal approach to cancer is a multidisciplinary approach that allows for an individualized and precision treatment plan for each patient, providing the best and most advanced care possible. He is a firm believer in the minimally invasive removal of cancer through the use of laparoscopy and robotic surgery, as these modalities have the potential to help patients recover faster.
Gerald Gantt Jr., MD
Dr. Gerald Gantt Jr. is a surgeon in the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery who specializes in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disorders, and diverticulitis. Dr. Gantt has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at national meetings. His research interests include colorectal cancer genomics, innovative surgical techniques, and health disparities.
Shikha Jain, MD, FACP
Dr. Shikha Jain is a medical oncologist specializing in colorectal cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). She works with her patients as a team to treat the disease and helps them move through an often difficult process together with as little stress as possible. Dr. Jain believes in personalized and individualized care, and she feels the more knowledge a patient has about their own disease, the more informed a decision they are able to make. She is an assistant professor of Medicine and the director of Communication Strategies in Medicine in the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and the associate director of Oncology Communication & Digital Innovation at the University of Illinois Cancer Center.
