Concerns about Coronavirus? The Family Medicine Clinic at University Village provides medical assessment, testing, and care for COVID-19, following University of Illinois Hospital guidelines. Enrolled UIC students can access information and care for Coronavirus related symptoms and/or contacts by calling 312-996-2901.

UIC Students and other members of the community of all ages can receive a broad range of medical services at the Family Medicine Center at 722 W. Maxwell Street, including general wellness for adults, children and infants, acute care, care of chronic conditions, mental health care, substance use, contraception, pregnancy care, and abortion.

All UIC students pay a Health Services Fee which covers a limited set of health services (see below) provided by The Family Medicine Center at 722 Maxwell Street at no additional cost to students. 

The Health Services Fee does NOT cover all health services provided at the Family Medicine Center. Care for ongoing medical problems and other services which are not covered by the UIC Health Services Fee are often covered by a student's private medical insurance, or by CampusCare for students enrolled in CampusCare. For health services not covered by the UIC Health Services Fee, a student's private health insurance will be billed.

UIC Health Services Fee covers the following services at no cost, when provided at the Family Medicine Center:

  • Care of acute/urgent illnesses and injuries
  • Testing for sexually transmitted diseases (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV)
  • Contraception counseling and no-cost prescriptions for the pill, patch, ring, Depo injection
    (IUDs and Implants are available at the Family Medicine Center through the student's health insurance plan, such as CampusCare, Blue Cross etc.)
  • Wellness visit that includes:
    • Blood pressure
    • BMI screening for obesity
    • Referrals for Breast cancer screening according to standard age and risk recommendations
    • Exam to collect Pap test at recommended intervals (the cost of the pap test itself will be billed to the student's insurance by the UI Hospital Department of Pathology)
    • Cholesterol screening
    • Preventive health advice and health counseling
  • Nurse visits to review immunizations (cost of immunizations will be billed to student's health insurance)

The UIC Health Services Fee does NOT cover:

  • Immunizations (except TDAP in setting of an injury)
  • Care of ongoing chronic diseases and conditions
  • Care provided by UI Health physicians or clinics other than the Family Medicine Center at 722 Maxwell Street
  • Care provided by physicians, clinics, or hospitals outside UI Health
  • Laboratory testing other than covered tests listed above
