It starts here in Chicago, where we consult, manage, and treat liver diseases in the general hepatology, pre-transplant, and post-transplant clinics here at UI Health. But we also see patients at outreach clinics in Naperville, Elmhurst, Peoria, Bloomington, and Rockford. The liver disease and transplant patient population can be extremely ill, and it requires a level of physician care that transcends typical outpatient medical service. By bringing our expertise to communities throughout Illinois, we ensure that individuals living with liver disease are equipped to manage their condition and the most vulnerable patients are referred here for transplantation.
Our program utilizes state-of-the-art procedures — like Fibroscan, a noninvasive tool that replaces the need for a liver biopsy to staging liver disease, and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), a procedure that creates a path for blood to flow through a scarred or cirrhotic liver — to help reduce the burden of diagnosis and treatment.
Our goal is to help liver disease patients enjoy the best quality of life possible.
