COVID-19 Boosters

UI Health is making COVID-19 boosters available to patients who meet the recent CDC recommendations.

Please Note:

The CDC also recommends that people who are immunocompromised receive a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 28 days after their second dose. More detailed information can be found on the CDC's website.

More information about eligibility and answers to Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the CDC's website

COVID-19 boosters have been approved for all adults 18 years old and older, six months after receiving their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. For adults 18 years old and older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, they can receive a booster two months after receiving their vaccine. Adults 18 years old and older can also receive a booster if they initially got a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization.

More information about eligibility, which booster you may receive, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the CDC's website.

How to schedule your appointment

Eligible UI Health patients who received their COVID-19 vaccine at a UI Health vaccine location will receive an email and notification in MyChart letting them know they can schedule an appointment. You can then schedule your appointment at one of our vaccine locations using MyChart.

If you would like to get the COVID-19 booster but can't schedule it in MyChart, you can call 833.53.MYVAX (833.536.9829) to schedule an appointment.

UI Health patients can also get their COVID-19 booster at the Eye and Ear Infirmary after their clinic appointment.
