Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Boosters

UI Health is making the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Booster available to patients who meet the recent CDC recommendations.

Please Note:

The CDC also recommends that people who are immunocompromised receive a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 28 days after their second dose. More detailed information can be found on the CDC's website.

Currently, COVID-19 boosters are only available for those who received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Boosters have not been approved for the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

The CDC strongly recommends that the following groups should receive the COVID-19 booster, six months after completing their primary series (2 doses) of the Pfizer vaccine:

  • People aged 65 and older
  • People 18 years and older residing in long-term care settings
  • People 50-64 years old with underlying medical conditions.

How to schedule your appointment

Eligible UI Health patients who received their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at a UI Health vaccine location will receive an email and notification in MyChart letting them know they can schedule an appointment. You can then schedule your appointment at one of our vaccine locations using MyChart.

If you would like to get the Pfizer COVID-19 booster but can't schedule it in MyChart, you can call 833.53.MYVAX (833.536.9829) to schedule an appointment.

UI Health patients can also get their Pfizer COVID-19 booster at the Eye and Ear Infirmary after their clinic appointment.
