At UI Health, HIV screening is now included with routine bloodwork for all admitted patients ages 18-64, unless the patient declines.
The HIV test is:
- Routine - offered with normal healthcare screenings at no cost
- Confidential - as part of your medical record
- Voluntary - you can refuse to have the test by informing the provider
Knowing your HIV status can help you take steps to improve your health, prevent illnesses, and live a long, happy life.
If your test result is negative, talk to your provider about if and when to be retested for HIV and if taking medication to prevent HIV is right for you.
If your test result is positive, treatment is available to all, regardless of insurance status. Your care team at UI Health will help you get the right resources, support, and care you need to live a long, healthy life.
