Dr. Nicola Winston received her Bachelor's Degree with honors from the University of London (UK) and was trained as a human embryologist at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. Dr. Winston was awarded her PhD from Cambridge University (UK) for studies specializing in furthering our understanding of early human embryo development. Dr. Winston has over a decade of research dedicated to increasing our knowledge and understanding of the process of egg maturation, as well as the identification and function of factors involved in the regulation of early embryo development.

Michelle Fierro received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1999. Following graduation, she joined our IVF program where she specializes in embryo culture, micromanipulation, cryopreservation/ vitrification of embryos and oocytes and sperm processing. Michelle is a Board Certified Technical Supervisor in the disciplines of Embryology and Andrology.
IVF/REI/RPL CLINIC COORDINATORS
Our IVF/REI/RPL coordinators counsel patients regarding infertility, in vitro fertilization and recurrent pregnancy loss issues, schedule their treatment appointments and provide information concerning their treatment plans. The IVF/REI/RPL coordinators work closely with patients providing education and ensuring that patients are comfortable with and knowledgeable about their medications.
All of our IVF/REI/RPL Clinic Coordinators are graduates of the Nurse Certificate Course in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, offered through the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

Yesenia has been passionate about serving women in Chicago in a variety of roles since 2003 and has been with the University since 2007. These roles include: health educator in underserved areas, clinical instructor for Loyola University, Labor and Delivery nurse at UIC, and an APN in a client centered women’s clinic. Yesenia is also fluent in Spanish. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UIC in 2004, Master of Science in Nursing in 2010 from DePaul University. She continued her education by completing the Post Master’s program in Midwifery in 2014.

Joy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009 from Resurrection University in Oak Park, Illinois. She started her nursing career working in Labor & Delivery in community hospitals and Level III Obstetric Units, all the while assisting families during the laboring process. She now enjoys working in an academic medical center at UI Health and helping couples with recurrent pregnancy loss and infertility. Her calm demeanor is her foundation and guide when assisting couples.

Rosa Herrera, MA
Rosa Herrera has been a medical assistant for 22 years. She has worked in our department for 7 years. She is bilingual and really enjoys working with all of the patients in our department. Rosa is very proficient with drawing the patients' labs and getting them ready for their appointments. Rosa is the first person that many of our new patients meet and her friendly demeanor is very welcoming.
Diana Reyes
Diana Reyes has been a medical assistant for 10 years and has worked in our department for 2 years. She is bilingual and is always eager to assistant patients in our center.
