SMILE Eye Surgery

SMILE— small-incision lenticule extraction — is a relatively new laser eye procedure similar to LASIK. Where LASIK uses two lasers to reshape the cornea, SMILE uses just one laser (femtosecond) to create a piece of tissue within the cornea called a lenticule. The lenticule is then removed.

Candidate Qualifications

Your ophthalmologist may suggest SMILE over other refractive-corrective surgeries if you have certain vision considerations, such as dry eyes or specificities around your vision prescription.
