Children's Hospital University of Illinois

The Children's Hospital University of Illinois (CHUI) offers comprehensive inpatient pediatric care for children of all ages. Our pediatric units - including the General Pediatric Medical/Surgical Ward, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Mother-Baby Birthing Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department - provide safe, evidence-based medical care that is focused on the needs of the child and their family.

We provide 24-hour coverage by board-certified pediatricians, including pediatric intensivists, neonatal intensivists, and pediatric hospital medicine specialists who are all certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). The multidisciplinary CHUI care team includes pediatric-dedicated physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, child-life specialists, dietitians, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, social workers, speech therapists, and Chicago Public School teachers. And our Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC) meets regularly to assure patient- and family-centeredness of care.
