Orthodontic Care

Surgery of the jaws cannot be done without braces (orthodontics). The teeth are in the jaw bones that will be moved. Orthodontic management will help with skeletal stability at the bone level and at the teeth level.

It is important to maintain good oral health throughout treatment and surgery to reduce bleeding and infection complications of surgery.

Wisdom teeth and possibly additional teeth may need to be removed 6-8 months prior to surgery, especially if the lower jaw must be repositioned.

The overall timeframe of Orthodontic treatment is from 12-24 months.
