Pre-Surgery
6 weeks before surgical date:
Surgeon
- Review and answer questions about the surgery
- Confirm the surgical plan
- Attest for the patient’s understanding of the procedure and basic after-surgery care
- Review any prescriptions that should be filled and/or ordered prior to surgery
Nurse
- Review and answer questions about preparation, hospitalization, and recovery
- Review pain management after surgery
- Review diet restrictions after surgery
- Review what you should have at home prior to surgery
Surgical Records
- CBCT scan (X-rays)
- Digital dental Scan
- Photographs (For boys/men, no facial hair)
Orthodontist
- Schedule for the placement of surgical hooks
- Check that all brackets are secured
Dentist
- Dental cleaning within 3 months of the surgical date
Primary Care Doctor
- Medical clearance stating that you are healthy for surgery must be obtained within 30 days of the surgical date.
