Maxillofacial Prosthetics

Maxillofacial Prosthodontics The Maxillofacial Prosthetics team provides unique and specialized care for pediatric and adult patients at The Craniofacial Center. The maxillofacial prosthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on rehabilitation of the mouth. The anaplastologists and ocularist are medical artists who work to restore areas of the face, including the eyes. All work together with other craniofacial center team members to  provide functional and cosmetic prostheses to allow patients to lead a normal life. Oral prostheses made by the maxillofacial prosthodontist replace missing teeth or parts of the palate or other soft tissue in the mouth to allow patients to speech, eat, and smile normally. They also make special devices for infants to assist the surgeon in cleft lip and palate repair. Of course, general dental health is important to overall health and to this end, The Center has pediatric dentists and orthodontists who work with the maxillofacial prosthodontist. Facial and eye prostheses are made by the anaplastologists and ocularist. These ear, nose, and orbital/eye replacements help restore normal facial appearance and build self-confidence for patients. The Craniofacial Center is world-renowned for its use of dental and facial implants as well as the most advanced digital technologies for planning, designing, and fabricating prostheses to make them as lifelike as possible.
