Dr. Hernández-Peraza's interest is to understand racial and ethnic differences in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients, such as presentation and treatment response, and establish a comprehensive MS clinic at UI Health.  She has also worked with the translational research team to create a bridge between current laboratory work being done and the bedside to bring better care to MS patients. Dr. Hernández-Peraza completed her doctorate in Medicine at Universidad Central del Caribe in her native Puerto Rico. She then attended Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for her neurology residency, where she also served as chief resident . She was honored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Ken & Ruth Davee Department of Neurology to be the first MS trained Fellow at Northwestern University. She also earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University.
