Dr. Rita Shapiro practices in the Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation at UI Health. Dr. Shapiro provides clinical consultations for patients with variety of problems related to suspected brain disorders, including changes in memory and language, and concerns about dementia or related syndromes. She maintains a holistic approach to neurologic care and works closely with referring physicians, primary care providers, and collaborating specialists at UI Health to treat brain disorders. As a clinician-educator, Dr. Shapiro has a long career in academic- and VA-based medical settings and remains involved in collaborative clinical research. She believes that many patients and families benefit from supportive services like the Alzheimer's Association and that there are positive steps healthcare professionals, patients, and families can do to help maintain and improve cognitive health.
