Our Services

GI Cancer Prevention
Using an integrated team of genetic counselors and cancer subspecialists including dermatologists, urologists, gynecology-oncologists, and colorectal surgeons, we see patients with personal or family history of GI cancers. We tailor a personalized preventative care plan for our patients. To be seen in the GI cancer prevention clinic, call and schedule an appointment with Dr. Barbara Jung today.

Advanced Endoscopy - Pancreaticobiliary
Our pancreaticobiliary and therapeutic endoscopy team, comprised of Dr. Allan G. Halline, Dr. Brian R. Boulay, and Dr. Nikhil Shastri, provides an array of specialized services and procedures.

Pancreatic disease
We work in an interdisciplinary fashion with our surgical and radiology departments to treat patients with complex pancreatic diseases, including chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic fluid collections and pseudocysts, severe (necrotizing) pancreatitis, and pancreatic masses. We specialize in drainage of pancreatic fluid collections and management of chronic pancreatitis and its complications. Our treatment of chronic pancreatitis may involve EUS-guided therapies, minimally invasive surgery, and consideration of total pancreatectomy with islet cell transplantation in appropriate patients.

Biliary disease
We perform Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided therapies to manage bile duct disease including difficult bile duct stones, benign and malignant strictures, and patients with postsurgical anatomy.

GI Oncology
We perform endoscopic diagnosis and staging of pancreatic malignancy. We work in a multidisciplinary fashion to manage pancreatic cancer, improving quality of life through palliative techniques such as EUS guided celiac plexus block for relief of pain, and biliary stent placement to treat jaundice. We work closely with our surgical and medical oncologists to provide an array of options for treatment, including clinical trials. We also offer endoscopic treatment of masses and polyps in the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon, including endoscopic removal of early stage cancer or large polyps.

Therapeutic Endoscopy
We are skilled in endoscopic management and treatment of masses including complex polyps in the colon and stomach. These masses can often be treated without surgery via endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) - a procedure in which a long narrow tube is guided through the digestive tract to remove tissues for diagnosis and treatment.

We offer endoscopic therapy for selected patients with Barrett's esophagus and early adenocarcinoma, including ablative therapies and EMR. We perform capsule endoscopy for the diagnosis of small bowel disease. We can perform deep enteroscopy with a double balloon enteroscope (DBE) for treatment of small bowel pathology including bleeding lesions, strictures, and masses. We provide palliative therapies for cancer including stent placement for esophagus, colon, and bile duct.

Colorectal Screening
We provide colonoscopies for colorectal cancer screening in our state of the art GI & Endoscopy lab for new and established patients. If you are interested in scheduling a colonoscopy, call 866.600.CARE today.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
We provide comprehensive care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with an interdisciplinary team of gastroenterologists, a dedicated IBD Pharmacist, colorectal surgeons, and advanced nurse practitioners. Our IBD clinic is run by Dr. Veena Nannegari, who is dedicated to keeping her patients' best interest at heart and encourages open communication to come up with the best possible plan to manage care. Additionally, we infuse our patients with biologics in the clinic with the help of a dedicated nurse who has access to Dr. Nannegari any time of the day during the week. Our providers are skilled at providing consultations for patients with IBD, managing Crohn's and colitis as well as evaluating patients for IBD. Patients with chronic diarrhea, rectal bleeding, weight loss, nausea, or vomiting, or any combination of these symptoms should schedule an appointment with us for consultation and care.

Nutrition & Bariatrics
The Nutrition & Weight Loss Program is led by Dr. Reed Berger, a physician nutrition specialist and the Medical Director of the medically supervised weight loss programs. Dr. Berger's expertise is in following the nutritional needs of the preoperative and postoperative bariatric surgery patients and obesity pharmacotherapy. Patients who are interested in choosing a bariatric surgery based on their comorbidities should be referred directly to Dr. Berger for a consult. If interested in pharmacotherapy/weight loss medications, patients need to be referred to our registered dietitian(s) for an evaluation prior to their medical evaluation with Dr. Berger. Patients seeking dietary management for NAFLD (fatty liver) or dietary advice on GI diseases such as IBD, Celiac, underwright, etc. would also need to see the dietitian. Dr. Berger also specializes in pre and post bariatric surgery nutritional deficiencies.

Small Bowel Syndrome
We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with short bowel syndrome, a condition in which the small intestine is missing or has been removed. Short bowel syndrome, or short gut, can be caused by a birth defect or can occur later in life from Crohn's Disease, trauma, or other intestinal accidents. Patients with short gut are unable to receive proper nutrition and because of this they require intervention. Our specialized providers are skilled at providing comprehensive care for patients with small bowel syndrome. To schedule an appointment for treatment of small bowel syndrome, schedule an appointment with Dr. Robert Carroll today.

Adult Nurse Practitioner Services
Ms. Anna Maria Mellgren is a licensed Adult Nurse Practitioner for Drs. Nannegari, Carroll and Jung. In collaboration with the MDs, she provides comprehensive follow ups, health assessments, determination of plans for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, short gut, and for patients in the Colon Cancer Program.
