UI Health News with Dr. Robert Barish

UI Health News with Dr. Robert Barish is a regular video series from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs that provides transparent, direct health-system updates between UI Health leadership and employees.UI Health News with Dr. Barish: Transplant Program

In the latest UI Health News video, Dr. Barish hosts Dr. Enrico Benedetti, head of the Department of Surgery, and Dr. David Perkins, director of research for transplantation at UIC, to discuss UI Health's growing transplantation program.

The Division of Transplantation is one of the premier transplant programs in Chicago and Illinois and last year performed nearly 140 transplant procedures - the fifth highest in the state. Research advancements also are allowing our doctors to provide improved therapeutic options for transplant patients. UI Health offers procedures to high-risk patients that are often ineligible for transplantation at other medical centers, and we take great pride in being one of the city's pre-eminent transplant providers to minority patients.

Dr. Barish also highlights recent recognitions for the Stroke and Cardiology programs and program achievements from the College of Applied Health Sciences.
