Dr. Dante Merlino is a fellowship-trained surgeon who practices in the Department of Otolaryngology at UI Health. He specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the head and neck, as well as reconstructive surgery after injuries or cancer treatment. Dr. Merlino is committed to working together with medical oncology, radiation oncology, dentistry, speech language pathology, and all other multidisciplinary team members to ensure that his patients receive care customized for their specific needs. His clinical research interests include the use of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) in the de-escalation of HPV-mediated oropharynx cancer, as well as using circulating tumor DNA as a cancer biomarker.
