Dr. Francesco Bianco earned his medical degree from the College of Medicine, G. D’Annunzio University in Chieti, Italy, where he also finished his general surgery residency and obtained his board certification. He completed a minimally invasive and robotic surgery fellowship at “Misericordia” Hospital in Grosseto, Italy as part of the largest program of robotic general surgery in the world. Dr. Bianco has been deeply involved in the development and teaching of robotic surgery since 2003. As coordinator of the International School of Robotic Surgery in Italy and director of the Advanced Robotic Surgery Lab at UI Health, he has trained more than 150 surgeons from around the world in advanced robotic surgery techniques. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 4 book chapters related to minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery.
