Dr. Gabriela Trifan practices in the Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation at UI Health. Dr. Trifan is a vascular neurologist specializing in stroke, cerebrovascular disease, brain health, and cognitive aging. Her research focuses on advancing equitable and community-engaged clinical trials aimed at improving stroke prevention, recovery, and long-term brain health. Through leadership roles in NIH-funded studies, Dr. Trifan investigates how cardiovascular health, social determinants of health, lifestyle factors, and sleep disorders influence stroke risk, cognitive decline, and neurocognitive aging. Her work combines clinical trials, neuroimaging, epidemiology, and evidence synthesis to develop patient-centered strategies that improve outcomes and reduce disparities in cerebrovascular disease and improve overall brain health.
