The Department of Pediatrics at UI Health provides primary and specialized healthcare for children from birth through young adulthood. Our teams help manage chronic medical conditions and diseases to ensure your child grows up healthy and develops properly. We are your partner in your child's health.

Our general and specialty pediatric services includes:

Pediatric Primary Care: Our general pediatricians provide preventative care that ensures children grow up healthy and develop properly. We treat common childhood illnesses, such as sore throats and ear infections, and we will connect you with our expert physicians for specialty care needs.

Back-to-School Care: Our pediatricians can help your child start the year healthy and ready to participate in their favorite activities. We provide immunizations, school and sports physicals, and vision and dental screenings.

Adolescent Medicine: Our adolescent medicine clinic provides primary and specialty care — including gynecologic and weight-loss services — to teens age 12-21.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UI Health provides the best possible care for premature newborns and critically ill infants.

Pediatric Cardiology: Our Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery teams diagnose and treat acquired heart problems and congenital heart disease or malfunction in children.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides specialized care for children with severe respiratory, circulatory, or neurological problems, including children who have undergone transplantation or other surgical procedures.

Pediatric Endocrinology: Our pediatric endocrinologists provide comprehensive care to children and adolescents with diabetes and glandular disorders.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology provides diagnostic services and treatment to children and adolescents with cancer, leukemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders.

Pediatric Infectious Diseases: Our infectious disease specialists take care of children who have diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

Pediatric Nephrology: The Preventative Pediatric Renal Clinic provides comprehensive care for children with conditions and diseases of the kidney and those with urological conditions.

Pediatric Neurology: The team of physicians, nurses, and other professionals in the Division of Pediatric Neurology provide diagnosis and treatment services for children with nervous system problems, including epilepsy and headaches, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and brain disorders.

Pediatric Psychiatry: The Department of Pediatrics partners with the Institute for Juvenile Research at UIC to advance children's mental health through research and compassionate treatment.

Pediatric Pulmonary and Lung Health: We provide diagnostic evaluations and management of respiratory and allergy-related disorders, including asthma and allergies, in infants, children, and adolescents.

Pediatric Sickle Cell: The Pediatric Sickle Cell Program was established to meet the unique needs of children with sickle cell disease and help them transition to happy, healthy adults.

Pediatric Dentistry: The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at UIC provides a full spectrum of services for all children, including those with special and complex oral health needs, and patients with special developmental, and behavioral care needs.
