New Hospital Atrium Opens at UI Health

The University of Illinois Hospital today opened its new Atrium.
Located at the corner of Taylor and Wood Streets, the two-story lobby is a modern, welcoming environment for all patients and visitors who come to the UI Health campus, located in the Illinois Medical District.
The Atrium improves access, circulation, and wayfinding for patients, visitors, and staff, while enhancing the interior ambience of the University of Illinois Hospital, elevating the UI Health brand and image, and providing increased security. The Welcome Atrium helps UI Health enhance the physical spaces that reflect the respect and compassion it provides to its patients.
A Taylor Street entrance leads to the first floor of the Atrium, which features public/family seating; registration and check-in; and security station. From the first floor, visitors can easily access the hospital cafeteria, Taylor Street Café, and gift shop. The second floor features seating, the office for Pastoral Care Services, and a large contemplation space reserved for quiet reflection and prayer. The Specialty Care Building, located directly south across the street, is also accessible via a skywalk on the second floor.
