BrightBridge Behavioral Health
BrightBridge at UI Health provides you with fast mental and behavioral health care. We support you by giving you psychiatric services or therapy without long wait times.
BrightBridge is available for moms and their partners who are pregnant, caring for children up to age 5, or who have had a pregnancy or fetal loss in the past five years and are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns. Our board-certified psychiatrist and an EMDR-trained therapist can offer trauma-informed short-term therapy, medication management, or help connect you with other services to make accessing behavioral healthcare easier. Currently, patients hear from program staff within one business day of signing up.
The specialized professionals who provide virtual psychiatry and therapeutic services are:
- Board-certified adult psychiatrist: Melissa L. Wagner-Schuman, MD, PhD, PMH-C
- EMDR trained therapist: Daniela Bischoff, MPH, LCSW
All psychiatry and therapy services are provided virtually by phone or video. Patients need to be physically located in Illinois and do not need any previous treatment or referral.
Those who could benefit from enrolling in BrightBridge IL include:
- Pregnant or postpartum women and their partners
- Parents of young children (under 5 years old)
- Parents after experiencing fetal or infant loss
- Parents needing behavioral health support
Parents who are feeling sad, depressed, angry, worried, scared, guilty, ashamed, or hopeless, or who feel like they are out of control, or have lost interest in or stopped enjoying activities they used to like, can complete the referral questionnaire at go.uic.edu/BrightBridgeILReferral.
For questions, patients can call 312.996.9874 or email brightbridgeil@uic.edu
