UI Health accepts transfers for patients requiring advanced neurological intensive care and specialized neurocritical expertise.
Our team works closely with referring physicians, hospitals, emergency departments, and healthcare providers to coordinate timely evaluations, transfers, and ongoing specialty care.
For referring providers, the Neuro ICU offers:

To Refer a Patient
To learn more about the Neuro ICU at UI Health, speak with a member of our care team or coordinate a patient referral or transfer by calling our Illinois Provider Access Line (IPAL) Transfer Center, at 855.455.4725.
The IPAL Transfer Center’s team of registered nurses is available 24/7 to assist with coordinating hospital transfers. The transfer team ensures efficient communication between the patient's physicians at the transferring facility and at UI Hospital.
Transfer requests are evaluated based on a patient's clinical urgency and the availability of resources at UI Hospital.
