Access to Care
Early detection is the best thing you can do for yourself and access to care should not be a barrier in the fight against breast cancer. Should you need financial assistance, there are programs in Illinois that can help you get the services you need to maintain breast health.
A Silver Lining Foundation
A Silver Lining Foundation (ASLF) has been a long-time partner with the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health). ASLF's mission is to ensure dignified, respectful and equal access to quality cancer education and services for all, by creating meaningful partnerships with community, advocacy and healthcare organizations. Since UI Health became the first partner hospital with the Foundation in 2006, UI Health and ASLF have performed over 1,000 mammograms and diagnostic evaluations for socioeconomically disadvantaged hospital patients through funding from the Buy a Mom a MammogramTM program.
UI Health is also home to the Evelyn Goldberg Mammography Center, named in memory of ASLF's founder, Dr. Sandy Goldberg's, late mother. Last year, ASLF launched Survive to Thrive at the UI Hospital, which is a program designed specifically for women and men who have been previously diagnosed with breast cancer. The program is tailored to fit the unique needs of survivors who are un-insured or under-insured by offering no cost diagnostic testing.

Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force
The Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force (The Task Force) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the fight against breast cancer inequalities in Metropolitan Chicago. Their program, Beyond October, recognizes that breast cancer awareness is a year round effort. They offer assistance in scheduling free mammograms for women who meet the qualifications.

Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program
The Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) offers free mammograms, breast exams, pelvic, exams and pap tests to eligible women. Even if a woman has already been diagnosed with cancer, she may receive free treatment if she qualifies. The program has been providing breast and cervical cancer screenings to the women of Illinois since 1995.
