What if I am currently undergoing ongoing treatment at UI Health?
UI Health and the University of Illinois Physicians Group (UIPG) participate with many Medicare
Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans. To continue to receive care or covered prescriptions at
UI Health or with a UIPG physician, you will need to be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan

How do I update my insurance coverage?
When certain events happen in your life, like you move or lose other insurance coverage, you
are able to make changes to your Medicare plan. These times are called Special Enrollment
Periods. Rules about when you can make changes and the type of changes you can make are
different for each Special Enrollment Period. As part of this Special Enrollment, you can choose
a new insurance plan until May 31, 2026. This includes either a new Medicare Advantage plan
or original Medicare with a Part D plan. When you change plans, coverage will begin the first
day of the month after you switch. To see if you qualify, visit Medicare.gov or call
1.800.MEDICARE. Click here for a list of Medicare Advantage health plans that UI Health is
contracted with.
What physicians are part of the University of Illinois Physicians Group (UIPG)?
UIPG has over 1,400 of the nation’s leading physicians. Click here for a complete list of
physicians.
Why am I being notified by UI Health that my scheduled appointment after June 1, 2026
may be canceled?
We contacted you to make you aware that after June 1, 2026, Clear Spring Health will no longer
be offering Medicare Advantage coverage in the State of Illinois. To continue to receive care at
UI Health you will need to be enrolled in an accepted insurance plan. Clear Spring has
confirmed that to ensure continuity of care, they will honor active care plans for 90 days
following May 29, 2026. Click here for a list of Medicare Advantage health plans that UI Health
is contracted with.
What is Continuity of Care?
Continuity of Care is a process by which the member has a right to continue seeing a doctor for
a defined period of time, even if the doctor is not participating in the health plan that the member
selects. Clear Spring has confirmed that the member’s new health plan must honor all active
care plans for a period of 90 days, even if the provider is out-of-network.
For Medicare Advantage Members: What is a "Special Enrollment Period"?
