Important Notice: Illinois MMAI Program Ending and New FIDE-SNP Plans Beginning
MMAI Program Ending December 31, 2025
The Illinois Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) program will end on December 31, 2025. Members currently enrolled in MMAI plans may continue coverage through that date.
Beginning January 1, 2026, Illinois will transition to Fully Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (FIDE-SNPs), which provide integrated Medicare and Medicaid benefits for individuals eligible for both programs.
New FIDE-SNP Plans Available Starting January 1, 2026
The following health plans have been selected by the State of Illinois to offer FIDE-SNP coverage:
- Aetna Better Health (FIDE-SNP)
- Molina Healthcare (FIDE-SNP)
- Meridian/WellCare (FIDE-SNP)
These plans will replace existing MMAI coverage beginning January 1, 2026.
Plans NOT SELECTED for FIDE-SNP include Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) MMAI. BCBS MMAI Coverage ends on 12/31/25, and members must choose a new plan for 1/1/26.
