About the UI Health Pulmonary Hypertension Program
Our Pulmonary Hypertension Program is committed to provide patients with outstanding care and to evaluate patients in a timely, comprehensive, compassionate and courteous manner.
We provide comprehensive care for patients with all forms of pulmonary hypertension, such as idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary hypertension associated with scleroderma, sickle cell disease, portopulmonary hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Our physicians, nurses and pharmacists are experts in the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension. Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of pulmonary and critical care physicians, cardiologists, pharmacists, clinical nurses, research nurses and research associates. We also work closely with specialists in rheumatology, hematology, hepatology, sleep medicine and cardiovascular imaging.
As a result of this collaborative approach, our patients receive the most comprehensive care and the benefits of cutting-edge research and state of the art treatment options available for pulmonary hypertension.

The discovery of new diagnostic, prognostic and treatment modalities for patients with pulmonary hypertension is a main goal of our program. With funding from the National Institutes of Health we focus on using genetic and genomic technologies to identify markers determining risk for the development of pulmonary hypertension, response to treatments and prognosis. With these studies we also seek to find new treatment targets for the disease. Our ultimate goal is to deliver personalized medical care to patients with PH. We also offer participation in clinical trials evaluating new therapies for PH.
