Dr. Anna Serafini practices in the Department of Neurology at UI Health. Dr. Serafini is an epileptologist and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and seizures. As the director of the Women with Epilepsy Program, Dr. Serafini focuses on epilepsy issues particular to women, including the impact hormonal changes, contraception, and pregnancy can have on the frequency of seizures. Her clinical interests and research focus on identifying the source of seizures, and epilepsy surgery. Her expertise in the treatment of complicated and drug-resistant epilepsy includes training in Italy, France, and the United States. Dr. Serafini is also medical director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at UI Health, where she oversees a team specializing in the use of state-of-the art technology to diagnose, monitor, and treat epilepsy.
