The Hepatology Program at UI Health offers advanced, personalized care for liver disease in the heart of Chicago and beyond from our experienced specialists. Our Hepatology experts manage and treat all types liver disease and coordinate advanced care for people with severe liver damage caused by cirrhosis, liver cancer, or other liver disorders who may be candidates for liver transplantation.
Treating Liver Disease Throughout Illinois

The Hepatology Program at UI Health provides outpatient consultations and management and treatment of liver diseases at locations throughout Illinois — including at the Bobbie and Marvin Fink Family Liver Clinic at our main Chicago location and at outreach clinics in Naperville, Elmhurst, Peoria, Bloomington, and Rockford. Transplants and high-level inpatient care are available at our flagship facility, the Walter Payton Liver Center at the University of Illinois Hospital.
Our staff is here to walk with you during every step of liver disease treatment and make sure your needs are being met, whether those needs are medical, dietary, social, or financial. Meet the Program Director
Dr. Jamie Berkes is the Director of Hepatology and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at UI Health. Dr. Berkes specializes in all liver diseases with special attention to end-stage liver disease and the management of pre- and post-liver transplant patients.
