Childbirth, while it is often one of the most important events in a woman's life, can also cause significant injury to the vagina and rectum. These injuries if untreated can lead to painful sex and bowel movements or even loss of bowel control.
Symptoms: Recurring vaginal infection, pain to vagina or rectum with sex or physical activity, loss of bowel control, leakage of stool into the vagina.
Treatments: Physical therapy, medication, or surgical repair.
