Outpatient Hand Therapy
Hand Therapy is a specialized type of occupational therapy, performed by Certified Hand Specialists (CHT) at UI Health. Common reasons for seeing a hand therapist include fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, work-related hand injuries, and other cumulative trauma disorders. Hand therapists may work on maximizing movement, strength, function, sensation, and pain relief of the hand. They might also create splints or braces, recommend equipment, teach home programs, and help retrain for specific hand tasks as part of therapy.
